A while back Hubby and I decided to check out Grill 41 for lunch. After attending the opening of the restaurant we were excited to get the real experience on a regular service day. I’ve spoken quite a bit about this restaurant in recent posts so I’ll keep this review to the point.

Price – Reasonable. It’s an upper class kind of place so expect lunch to run you anywhere from $13 to $18 and dinner from $16 to $35 depending if you order steak or something else from the grill. Hubby and I had a burger, sandwich and drinks with tip for about $50.

Ambiance – Stylish and contemporary this newly revamped restaurant is bright and business causal by day and elegant and sophisticated at night. It’s a great place to go for a business lunch or for a nice dinner before heading out for a fun filled Ottawa night. It’s definitely a little bit classy but guys can get away with nice jeans and a dress shirt for lunch.

Menu – A coast to coast Canadian menu highlighting the best our country has to offer. From Alberta beef to seafood from the both coasts. There is something here for everyone from the cautious who enjoy the tried and true, to the adventurous who would like to try something new. Most dishes are quite familiar but there are some that have a Grill 41 twist! The menu was collaborative partnership between the Executive Chef Aurelio Petraglia and Celebrity Chef Michael Smith.

Food – Pretty darn good. Hubby went for the Grilled Lamb Burger with pickled red onions and cucumber sauce while I had the Grilled Chicken Sandwich with Ontario Apple Chutney and Green Curry Mayo on Rosemary Foccacia. Honestly I was expecting a bit more flavour from the bread and the mayo. The Chicken was moist and had a great grilled flavour and I could taste the sweetness of the apple chutney but if I hadn’t read about the mayo and the rosemary bread, I wouldn’t have known it was there! Still a very tasty sandwich that came with some of the best sweet potato fries in the city. They are crispy on the outside, but large enough to be soft and sweet on the inside. A real treat!

Overall – A good representation of awesome Canadian Food set in a stylish Ottawa landmark. Grill 41 is worth checking out! 3.5 out of 5 stars.
