There is something really exciting happening at Parkdale Market. Open 7 days a week from dawn until dusk the Parkdale market now features 10 new Savour Ottawa verified farmers. Meaning that every product / vendor you see with that logo has undergone a verification process to ensure they are A) using local ingredients in their production or B) are a local producer. Here is that logo:

But there is more! According to the press release:

The City of Ottawas renovated field house adjacent to the Parkdale Market is now open with a whole new purpose. It is equipped to satisfy Ottawa’s growing appetite for locally grown and produced foods.

The Savour Ottawa Field House is a Thursday-to-Sunday food boutique selling nothing but local foods grown and produced by Savour Ottawa farmers. The Field House, refurbished with refrigerators, freezers, preparation counters, and sinks enables ten farmers, who will take turns “minding the store”, to showcase their amazing local foods – ranging from organic beef to vegetables and cheeses.

The new vendors at The Field House are Acer Farms (organic beef), Bekings Poultry (eggs), Bryson Farms (organic & heirloom vegetables), Dusty Lane Farms (lamb), Fromagerie les folies Bergères (cheese), Hall’s Apple Market (apple products), Halsall’s Honey, Le coprin (mushrooms),  Stanley’s Maple Lane Farm (maple products) and Trillium Meadows Red Deer & Wild Boar Farm. This brings the total number of vendors at the Market up to 27.

In addition to the new canopies and vendor signs, the Field House is an important enhancement to the Parkdale Market, which is now entering its 87th season.

How cool is that?!
