Well with Ottawas first snow of the season on the ground today… what better time to talk about an event that has white in the title??

The Red and The White is a fundraiser that is being put on in support of Harmony House,  a second-stage women’s shelter which provides safe, affordable, transitional housing, for women and children who are survivors of violence. Wonderful cause I think we would all agree. But that is not why I am excited.

This food lovers event takes place in January and features one of my favourite local chefs – Michael Blackie (Executive Chef of the NAC’s Le Cafe and star of Chef Off!) and Chef Laura Kirk of Ruby Watcho. Not to mention some the fantastic wineries and breweries that will be present from Eastern Ontario.

While that in and of itself is enough to get my foodie juices flowing… it is the venue that has me all twitterpated. This event is taking place at Saint Brigid’s Centre for the Arts. If you have never been to an event at Saint Brigid’s, make this one your first! It is an old church on Saint Patrick Street and it is stunning! Hubby just filmed some scenes from his latest flick there and I have to  say, very impressive. It is such a unique space in Ottawa, I am truly excited to attend a food event here.

Tickets are $60, and that includes small plate creations by both chefs along with beverages and the chance at some cool door prizes. It is taking place Wednesday January 18 from 7pm to 9pm at Saint Brigid’s Centre for the Arts (302 Saint Patrick Street in the Market). To purchase tickets please call, 613-853-3250 or email fundraising@harmonyhousews.com

This is sure to be an epic good time.
