It may not be quite ready… but I’m getting damn close with the shop at 440 Preston. In the meantime, it’s Winterlude! And since I’m in the shop all day long getting things ready anyway I thought – why not open up the doors so you can come in and say hi!

We wont be up and running so that you can get any spices ūüė¶ But if you happen to be heading to Dows Lake this Saturday to do some skating, pop in between 11 and 3! I’ll even have a warm Spiced Apple Cider to warm you up. If you can’t make it – here is the recipe.

Spiced Apple Cider

Large orange
4 quarts apple cider
1/4 cup (packed) golden brown sugar
2 TBSP fresh lemon juice
15 whole cloves
10 whole allspice
8 whole green cardamom pods, crushed
5 cinnamon sticks, each broken in half

Using vegetable peeler, remove peel (orange part only) from orange in strips. Place orange peel in heavy large pot or slow cooker (reserve orange for another use).

Add apple cider, golden brown sugar, fresh lemon juice, cloves, allspice, cardamom pods, and cinnamon sticks to pot.

If using a pot on the stove: bring to boil, stirring until sugar dissolves. Reduce heat to medium-low; simmer until cider mixture is reduced to generous 8 cups, about 40 minutes. Strain cider into medium pot.

If using a slow cooker. add all ingredients to the slow cooker and turn it on high for an hour until heated through and the sugar is dissolved
